Alice’s Journey: “Absolutely do it. It’s such a benefit to have something like this from the NHS”

Alice, a part-time working mum living with type 2 diabetes, joined the NHS Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme with one goal: “I wanted to reverse my diabetes.”

At first, Alice worried that all her effort might not pay off, but as the programme progressed, the results were clear. “Seeing the changes in my body each week” helped her stay motivated, along with her supportive coach: “Making my coach and myself proud” kept her going.

Alice lost an incredible 17.3 kg (20% of her starting weight) while on the programme. She found the programme “amazing,” especially the motivational calls and easy-to-follow menus. While reintroducing food was challenging, Alice now feels empowered: “I have learned how to manage my body better when it comes to the relationship with food and the consequences.”

She’s still waiting for her final blood test results but is optimistic and proud of how far she’s come. “I try to drink more, eat earlier, and substitute smartly when socialising. I also try to ensure my children don’t consume too much sugar so they don’t get into the mess I did.”

Alice's advice to anyone starting the programme

“Do it absolutely. It’s such a benefit to have something like this from the NHS. I want to thank the programme so much for their support. I will continue to purchase the shakes!”
