With the light at the end of the tunnel drawing ever nearer, we begin to look back at the things that have changed since the start of the first lockdown.

Who would have thought we would be able to have a doctor’s appointment from our living room, teach our children over the internet or manage our health conditions using smart devices?

Speaking of health management (and smart devices), North West London CCG has commissioned a library of the highest-rated health applications, which you can download to your smart device to help you monitor and manage your condition.

If you have a smartphone and a long term health condition, you might like to browse the library and see if you can find something that will work for you.

The site boasts 48 apps for the management of Diabetes but also offers help with Healthy Living, Mental Health and more. Watch this short video to find out more.

The apps range from being entirely free to use, to paid apps. However, it’s important to note that some of the free apps offer ‘In-app purchases’, which means that they are fundamentally free, but you may need to pay to use certain features. You will be able to see from the app card (shown below) which ones are which so that there are no nasty surprises.

Please be assured that we do not expect the library, or any of the apps within it, to replace any services that you may already be using but rather to complement them.

For example, you may be waiting for an appointment to discuss a sleeping issue with your health or care professional, and decide to use an app to monitor your sleeping patterns. The app may record those patterns, which you can then discuss during your appointment to help with management plans. It is also worth noting that certain paid apps can be accessed for free with a GP referral.

With all this in mind, our aim is to empower people to take a hand in their own health management. It might seem daunting at first, but we are here to offer help and support every step of the way. Please do take a look at the library and find an app that is useful for you!

Take me to the library
